Dental designs

Having passed her Bachelor of Dentistry examination with a first class from Poona’s D. Y. Patil Dental College, 24-year-old Dr Auzar Sheroi Irani is now keen to pursue a degree and career in forensic odontology (the science of detection and utilization of dental evidence in the identification of suspects and victims of homicide and unnatural death due to any cause, or in any criminal investigation involving physical abuse), notes a press release. By way of community work she has treated inmates of the Yerwada Central and Open Jails in Poona, carried out regular dental checkups at the Military Ordnance Factory in Poona and at health checkup camps, and is a volunteer for the Poona branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.



Auzar Irani: for dental evidence


Irani commenced her dental studies after procuring a merit seat at the D. Y. Patil College and completed her first year with distinction, obtaining the fourth rank in the examination conducted by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Thereafter she continued to pass each successive year with a first class, adds the release.
In her final year at Bombay’s J. B. Petit High School, Irani was declared the best student in physics, chemistry and biology and was presented the Academic Excellence Award and the Senior All Rounder at the annual sports meet in 1998, having won prizes for cross country, swimming, athletics and basketball. During her next two years of studies at the Cathedral Secondary School she was cross country captain and house monitor.
After 12 years of Bharat Natyam training she has performed for the Naval Maritime Association and the Mysore Association, and being good at western dancing too has choreographed performances for inter-collegiate competitions and functions, notes a family source.
