Presented to the President

Dr Homi Dhalla was among the apex body members of the Foundation for the Unity of Religions and Enlightened Citizenship (FUREC) invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 16, 2006. When the President of India Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam interacted with the religious leaders, Dhalla presented him a copy of his CD bearing his Power Point presentation depicting the various forms of violence and the measures undertaken to face this challenge. It highlights the role of politicians, religious leaders, artists, educationists and eminent thinkers on the subject globally, notes a press release.

Explaining the genesis of this presentation Dhalla related how FUREC was launched in 2004 as the vision of Kalam and Acharya Mahaprajna. At a subsequent meeting in Bangalore with the apex body, Kalam had initiated a discussion on the problem of widespread violence and possible curbs. Dhalla then set to work on a detailed paper entitled "The dimensions of peace and violence,” and as a sequel to this readied his Power Point presentation bearing 100 images. According to Dhalla, the President showed interest in the subject and asked a number of questions concerning this topic.
