Davar’s vision
The late Dr Nani Davar, principal of Davar’s College who passed away in November 2005 at the age of 82 was a brilliant academician and educationist who helped launch the careers of innumerable candidates in the corporate world.
He was an active member of various professional bodies: vice president of the All India Management Association, president of the Bombay Management Association, chairman of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Taxation and Company Law Sub-Committees of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber for many years.
He was the author of Practical Book-Keeping and Accountancy, Volumes I and II, and his thesis on "Management Training in India” was also published.

Davar: helped launch careers
He held a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA and was a Sloan’s Fellow. He was also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of London, UK. Active in the educational field since 1942, Davar started teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate students at Davar’s College as well as managers all over India for whom he had conducted a number of executive development programs and orientation courses. He became principal of Davar’s College in 1949.
An active Rotarian he was past president of the Rotary Club of Bombay, former vice chairman and trustee of the Willingdon Sports Club and past president of The Club Mahableshwar. Davar was a member of several clubs and was a keen golfer too. He was held in high esteem by all who came in contact with him in both his personal and professional life.
