“Spiritual truth”
Kudos to Sabin Lewis of Illinois for his erudite observations not only on the uniqueness of our religion, but also on how to preserve it ("Spiritual truth,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, February 21, 2006). No rabble rousing, no Bible-thumping, no pseudo reform plans. Just a quiet, pithy comment which deserves to be quoted in case readers missed it:
"To universalize the religion in the way that Christianity is would not only threaten the ethnic identity of Zoroastrians, but could also cause sectarian divisions in which the true teachings are distorted to promote certain agendas.” Something for all of us to understand and digest.
It’s a real pity that today, the image of genuine orthodoxy has been tarnished and tattered by both camps.
