“He touched the sky”
his has reference to Burjor Karanjia’s review of my book ‘Jeh’: A Life of JRD Tata (Parsiana, March 2005). I would like to clarify certain factual errors that have crept into the review (but which appear correctly in the book):
In place of Dorab it should be Darab. Darab was JRD’s brother; Dorab was the founder J. N. Tata’s son.
The name is Murad Fyzee and not Mural Fyzee.
It was C. G. Grey, the founder-editor of The Aeroplane, who coined gems like "Aviation will have arrived when people get used to being killed” and not Fred Jane (wrongly appears in the review as Fred James).
During the War TISCO’s capacity stagnated at eight lakh tons and not eight million tons. Production is still nowhere near that figure.
Verrier Elwin wrote The Agraria and The Muria and their Ghotul and not The Agrarian and The Muria and their Ghoshed.

In your March 2005 issue, in the article ("He touched the sky,” Books, Parsiana, March 2005) the word "million” should be replaced by lakh.
Hence the sentence should read as follows:
"...TISCO’s capacity stagnated at eight lakh tons, J. R. D. revealed to his shareholders that TISCO had provided approximately three lakh bars of steel to the war effort.”
My attention was drawn to the mistake because even today TISCO’s capacity has not reached even five million tons per annum.
