Dina Wadia in Lahore

The only child of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and his Parsi wife Rati Petit, Dina Wadia arrived in Lahore by a special plane accompanied by her son, noted businessman Nusli Wadia of Bombay Dyeing, daughter-in-law Maureen and grandsons Jehangir and Ness on the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The renewed cricketing relations between Pakistan and India provided Wadia the opportunity to watch the final game of the series last year, as noted a report in Karachi’s Dawn newspaper quoted by the FEZANA Journal.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf specifically came to Lahore to meet the Wadia family. Dina, who lives in the US, visited the mausoleum of her father in Karachi and laid a floral wreath amid tight security. She is said to have never visited Pakistan during her father’s lifetime (her parents were estranged), only reaching on his death to witness thousands of Pakistanis paying their last respects to the Father of the Nation, notes the Journal.
