Zartoshty Bros honored

Homi Italia heads the committee of the Zoroastrian Society of British Columbia (ZSBC) as it celebrates its 35th anniversary. Others on the team are treasurer Farrokh Namdaran, secretary Noshir Balsara, honorary auditor Kourosh Mehin and sub committee chairs Khushrav Dastur (maintenance and seniors liaison), Rostam Sasani (education), Khodabaksh Shahbandari (youths liaison and sports) and Percy Bhagat (social and cultural affairs), as notes its newsletter In Search of the Truth (March-May 2003).
Last November the Zarathushtis of Vancouver congregated at the Darbe Mehr under the auspices of the Arbab Rostam Guiv Trust to honor the dedication and munificence of philanthropist Mehraban Zartoshty. The bilingual ceremony with a Farsi introduction by Dr Iradj Pourkarimi and an English one by Fariborz Rahnamoon was witnessed by 120 people, notes the newsletter (December 2002-February 2003). Zartoshty was presented a memento by the Trust; his wife Paridokht and daughter Vida received bouquets and good wishes.

Recounting the service rendered by the Zartoshty brothers — the late Faridoon was remembered with a bouquet of flowers — Mobed Jehangir Panthaky and Manouchehr Iranpour noted that they reached out to all races and all countries. Iranpour noted that Arbab Mehraban’s name featured among the top donors on the wall of the Vancouver General Hospital and the Lion’s Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Homi Italia and Dr Mehraban Shahrvini read messages on behalf of the ZSBC and the Guiv Trust of USA.
Acknowledging the ovation Zartoshty recalled the community service of Maneckji Limji Hataria, Rustam Guiv, ZSBC founder member the late Jamshed Pavri and his wife Roda and stressed on the importance of unity within the community, mentions the newsletter.
