Aid the Ambulance

The Parsi Ambulance Division started on April 1, 1904 (under the auspices of the St John Ambulance Brigade, Overseas, UK) with hand driven and horse-driven ambulances rendering immense service during the World Wars. This was the first division in the whole of Asia. The Division continues to render supplementary help to essential services like the police, defence, fire brigades during fire, building collapses, riots, public duties, etc. The Division also runs a free sick bed requisite service and free charitable dispensary for the poor and needy. Even today we continue to render such humane services as providing Free Ambulance Services and a free dispensary, attending public duties like Ganpati Visarjan, emergency services during accidents, building collapses, riots, first aid and nursing training, loaning of sick beds, wheel chairs, walkers, etc.

The Division activities are carried out by honorary members and managed by the board of trustees. We are proud of our past members who had sacrificed their time and services in the cause of our Division’s formation and growth especially during the Bombay Docks Explosion on April 14, 1944, Bombay riots and on various other occasions.
Times have changed and in view of the difficulties faced in general, we solicit the help from well-wishers and public charitable organizations in raising funds to enable us to sustain and improve our services as we march towards our centenary in 2004.
Donations by cheque/draft in favor of "Parsi Ambulance Division” may be sent to the office at Lady Willingdon Building, (Opp Metro Cinema), 1, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Bombay 400001. Donations given to our institution are exempted under Section 80G of the Income-Tax Act, 1961.
