“A royal visit”
It isn’t often that the members of the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe (ZTFE) get to see the royal family ("A royal visit,” Parsiana, August 2002). Being bereft of familiarity with protocol, confusion reigned at various points throughout the Earl and Countess of Wessex’s visit to the new premises of ZTFE, when the guests were variously referred to as "the Earl and Countess of Essex,” "The Princes” and "Their Majesties.” The event was "a great success” nonetheless. "Oh yes,” reports a member of the Harrow Zoroastrian group, "the Duke and Countess of Sussex were here last Wednesday but I didn’t go and see them.” It is a pity the president of ZTFE and his team failed to ascertain the protocol pertaining to this occasion. Imagine any labelling of Zoroastrians, particularly in London, as a community of mediocrities!
