Former national champion and currently athletics coach Adille Sumari-walla was awarded the Dadoji Konddeo award for coaches for the year ’98-’99 at a function in Poona in July 2001. "Adille happens to be the only person from Maharashtra to have been presented the Shiv Chhatrapa­ti, the Arjuna and the Dadoji Konddeo awards so far,” states a communication from Shriram Shinde of Pune Mid Day. A unique feature, Shinde mentions, was that Sumar­iwalla’s student Rachita Mistry received at the same time the Shiv Chhatrapati award for being one of Mahar­ashtra’s best athletes. Sumari-walla is currently direc­tor of corporate affairs and projects in the Mid Day group of publications.
