“Disawalla’s dismissal”

You have rightly given coverage in the November 2001 issue of Parsiana to the highhanded and disputable action by the Bangalore Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman (BPZA) in expelling its senior member, Dr M. D. Disawalla from its membership just because he espoused the cause of electric cremation in the present context.
The main thrust of my argument is against this arrogant action of the BPZA.
The dakhmenashini system is now outdated and unworkable, yet its continuation has been propagated by false and unsubstantiated propaganda by the high priests and the religious fundamentalists with ulterior motives.
The rule 4.1 under which Disawalla has been expelled from the membership of BPZA is subservient to the fundamental right of freedom of expression under the Constitution of India.
Dr P. D. SUNAVALA
