Regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on oilseed and vegetable oil pricing, on November 4, 2022, London-Singapore based Dorab Mistry was elected non executive chairman of Adani Wilmar Limited (AWL), a joint venture between Adani Group and Wilmar. "It is one of the oldest Adani Group companies having been established in 1997, soon after the Mundra port was developed. AWL enjoys a market cap of almost USD 12 billion and is also India’s largest food company by turnover,” mentioned Mistry in response to queries from Parsiana.

"Wilmar is the world’s largest cooking oil company and a major multinational founded in 1991, employing over 100,000 people in over 50 countries with about 500 manufacturing plants. I have known Kuok Khoon Hong, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Wilmar International Ltd of Singapore and also the founder chairman of AWL since the inception of Wilmar,” stated Mistry giving Hong credit for building "an amazing company within a span of 30 years.”
Cooking oil being Mistry’s forte, he has been on the board of AWL as an independent non-executive director since 2021. "This is a non executive position,” reiterated Mistry who continues his full-time employment as director of Godrej International Trading and Investments Limited in Singapore. "I am most grateful to my chairman Nadir Godrej for his generous support which has enabled me to take up this exciting outside assignment. I learnt my commodity skills from my guru Adi Godrej and I am deeply grateful to the Godrej group for all that I have learnt and accomplished in my professional life,” acknowledged Mistry.
