Priests produce podcasts
"‘Discover Zoroastrianism’ podcast is a channel to communicate Zoroastrian teachings, celebrations and history,” notes an announcement from The North American Mobeds Council (NAMC). This new initiative from the NAMC Institute of Zoroastrian Studies has been designed as "a short, quick and effective (route) to reach a younger audience with the modern method of communication,” stated NAMC vice president Ervad Tehemton Mirza who has conceived these podcasts.

Varying in duration between five to 10 minutes, podcasts (digital audio files available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device) of relevance to the Zoroastrian month according to the Shahenshahi and Fasli calendars will be regularly released. In November, which partly corresponds to the Shahenshahi mah Khordad and the Fasli mah Avan, their podcast deals with the "importance of water, rain and wind.” There will be additional podcasts relating to the environment to coincide with seasonal celebrations like Yalda, Sadeh, Navroz, etc. Beginning January 2022, every month a podcast will be released on each ha (verse) of the Gathas denoting its relevance to daily life.
To ensure that the information is well received by the youth, senior mobeds or knowledgeable elders compose the podcast material while the youth are roped in to record it. Topics selected are meaningful for youngsters, and the material prepared is easy to follow and understand. "The message is kept simple and direct, devoid of scholarly terminologies and references,” added Mirza. Following the launch of their first podcast in September 2021, they have received "positive and encouraging feedback,” Mirza responded to queries from Parsiana. "One-third of our listeners are under the age of 27 years, 60% of our listeners are on the Spotify platform.”
To ensure that the podcasts have maximum viewership, these will be advertised and promoted on social media and the Zoroastrian media too has been requested to publicize them.
