Children raise funds
When The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH) made an appeal for funds for "medical treatment and equipment,” members of Daraius’s Daredevils, the Colaba / Cusrow Baug unit of XYZ (Xtremely Young Zoroastrians) and the Cusrow Baug United Sports and Welfare League (CBSWL) collected cheques totalling Rs 10 lakhs. XYZ founder Hoshaang Gotla told Parsiana that the idea and concept came from the youngsters, aged between five and 15 years. "They made calls to people and spoke to a few as well and requested them to donate… The office bearers of XYZ had given them different areas (within the Baug) to cover and to speak to the people sitting at various places in the colony.” The children are now making thank you cards for those who contributed, Gotla said. The cheques were handed over on May 26, 2021. The appeal to the residents of the colony was made via their WhatsApp group, on a broadcast message, noted CBSWL honorary secretary Hoshang Jal.

The PGH had issued an appeal on May 6 listing six initiatives: vaccination program, upgrading the radiology department with a new CT (computerized tomography) scan machine, installation of an oxygen plant, recruiting well-trained medical staff, replacing old beds with latest surgical beds and other furniture and fixtures, reinforcing the 109-year-old Victorian heritage building.
