The show premiered the day after Deboo was awarded an excellence award at the Conde Nast Traveller India Readers’ Award at New Delhi. The performer was felicitated for his 50 years in the field of modern dance as well as his pioneering work with the hearing impaired for the last 20 years in Calcutta, Bangalore and Madras. "The Astad Deboo Dance Foundation has also mentored over 100 students and aims to provide creative training to able bodied and disabled artists,” noted Conde Nast’s press release.
Deboo is planning an interaction with the Chitrasena Dance Company in Colombo in December, and preparation for a new work premiering in 2019 on Mohandas Gandhi, in time for the Mahatma’s 150th birth anniversary.
