Polarization among Parsis
For a 100 or more years, there has been a rigid polarization between the extremists and the moderates/reformists, harming the well-being of our micro-minority. For every little difference, we cannot run to the Supreme Court. We should not.
The situation gets compounded by pseudo-scholars of our impregnable scriptures whose vocal interpretations are more confusing than those of the stalwarts like Friedrich Spiegel, Martin Haug, Prof Williams Jackson, Khurshedji Pavri, Ervad Kavasji Kanga and Irach Taraporewala.
The Jews have their oral tradition, providing space for questioning and adaptations in a way the written text cannot accommodate.
Some rabid elements refuse to read the writing on the wall, and repeat the serious limitations exhibited by the last Sasanian Empire. That may be too late to lament or repair.
A refusal to reform is self-signing of the death warrant. Change intelligently or perish. BEHRAM T. DASTUR
