BASZA Committee

By Farrokh Jijina · September 7, 2017

At the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Borivli and Suburban Zoroastrian Association (BASZA) held on June 3, 2017, secretary Khurshed Pastakia, announced that "although there were no nominations received, the executive committee would still happily welcome in its fold any youth under 40 years of age who wanted to work for the Association,” notes the BASZA newsletter, issue 3/2017.
The "around 40 members attending” reappointed most of the existing committee members for the next three years, notes the newsletter. "There are no new members in the new committee but an old member Tehmul Patel has not opted to be re-elected,” informs Pastakia, in an email to Parsiana. BASZA has a membership of 230 families, as reported by their office bearers at the executive council meeting of The Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India held in April this year.
The committee now comprises the following: president Minoo Khan, vice president Yazdi Motiwala, secretary Pastakia, joint secretary Jimmy Adajania, treasurer Perviz Khan, and members Ervad Minoo Kotwal and Banoo Mehta.
The AGM was held after the Dae mah jashan conducted by priests from the Bai Motlibai Wadia Adaran in Jogeshwari. The prayers were sponsored by the Mehta family in memory of Marazban Mehta, a vice president of BASZA for many years.
