Junior girls champ
Tanya Vakil had been winning a spate of athletic events in the girls under 12 age group in 2017. At the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana Annual Floodlit Athletic Meet from April 28-30, 2017 she won three trophies — Girls under 14 Individual Champion, Best Girl Athlete, and Best Junior Athlete after creating two new meet records in 300 m run which she completed in 52.2 secs and a leap of 1.15 m in high jump. She additionally won gold medals in 60 m run, 150 m run, long jump and two relay events, notes a press release.

Tanya Vakil creates high jump record at the Dadar Athletic Meet
On the first weekend of February at the All Parsee Jal Pardiwala meet at the University Stadium she won the Championship trophy with two gold and one silver medal. She stood first in 100 m run and long jump, and second in 300 m. A week later, at the Catholic Gymkhana Open Athletic Meet at the University Stadium, she was awarded the Champion Athlete Trophy for girls under 12 years. She stood first in 100 m run, 200 m run and long jump, as per a press release sent by her coach Dara Doomasia.
A student of J. B. Vachha High School, at their last annual athletic meet she won trophies for Champion Athlete of the Meet, Best Performance under 12, and Most Promising Athlete, having won five gold medals in 100 m run, 200 m run, 400 m cycling, long jump and shot put. As a Parsi Punchayet athlete she has been training every evening at Rustom Baug for the last two years under Doomasia, Jungoo Sholapurwala and Khushnaz General. Her family includes father Pourus who was a medal winning athlete in his school days, mother Anahita and elder sister Kayana who constantly motivate Tanya.
