“Fantastic ancient cuisine”

I was thrilled to see her photograph and review of my old friend Niloufer Mavalvala’s book, The Art of Parsi Cooking ("Fantastic ancient cuisine,” Books, Parsiana, October 21, 2016). The write-up states that she is based in Canada.
About three decades back she was a teenager in Karachi. My eye-surgeon husband, Dr Homi Dordi and I were staying as guests in her house. She had come to receive us at the airport. Some doctors from Bombay’s B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital had been invited to Karachi to stage a Parsi natak to raise funds for community charities there and we had all been put up with Parsi families. Niloufer’s father Dr Jamshed Vania, mother Shireen, fui (father’s sister) Villie and brother Hormazdshaw were very hospitable.
I also enjoy reading Roda Hakim’s letters from Baroda because they are practical and to the point.
