Where has the Parsi gone?
Where O where has the Parsi gone, I really don’t know,/ This for our community comes as a big blow,/ We are known and appreciated for all good reasons,/ Since centuries gone by and countless seasons,/ We are spoken about with always friendship and love,/ As very peace loving patriots, the symbol of the dove.
People found our gaars (swear words) sweet and Gujarati sweeter,/ Always ready to help and care, rated highest on any meter,/ No scandal, no ill will, known for honesty, loyalty and no fuss,/ Wherever we went people wholeheartedly accepted us.
What has changed? The recent trend we are seeing is sad,/ And this for the whole community is really bad!/ Court cases galore is what’s happening today,/ Parsi unity has somewhere lost its way.
Spectacles we are making of ourselves, this is a fact,/ Hitting and abusing is our way now, we have lost all tact./ The very people we elect to power act in this dastardly way,/ What’s left for you and me but to hide in shame or pray.
I feel this is due to intolerant orthodoxy and dogmatism Sir,/ Quarrelsomeness, impatience are qualities we never had earlier,/ The media is having a field day and is full of it all,/ Is this the start of our community’s downfall?
The Parsipanu has vanished, in its place greed,/ Anger and pettiness we seem to recently breed,/ This change with our dwindling numbers is a bad sign,/ It’s a sure way to extinction, so be it, fine!
May sense prevail as even now it is not too late,/ No sense blaming everything that’s happening on our fate./ It’s not fine, a resurrection is what we need, it has to come,/ We need to rise like the phoenix, and our problems overcome!
