Appeal for funds
The Shree Daman Vapi Parsi Jarthosty Anjuman was established in 1838 mainly to manage the dakhma (pictured) and agiary in Daman and safeguard the interests of the Parsi community. The dakhma which is in use today was established in 1898 in village Varkund, Daman, and has about 18 acres of land.

The Anjuman provides all services free of cost at the Tower of Silence to the Parsi Zoroastrians of Daman and Vapi. There is one bungli which was rebuilt in 1982. The barbed wire fencing protecting the dakhma lands has broken down completely and there is the ever present threat of local encroachment. We plan to build an RCC (reinforced cement concrete) boundary wall to fence in the entire dakhma area at an estimated cost of Rs 40 to Rs 45 lakhs. We appeal to members of the community to donate generously for the purpose as our corpus is very small and the interest from it is insufficient for daily maintenance, salary for staff and outgoings.
