Genes alive after death
On June 25, 2016 The Times of India published a shocking news item about research showing that "some genes come alive after death.” The report further said that studies on animals at Washington University showed that their genes could remain alive up to four days after death. This has significance for human beings who are about to receive organs (heart, kidney, etc) from a just dead person for transplanting into a living person. Since genes can stay alive for four days after death, an organ transferred from a person who has died of cancer could possibly pass the cancer on to the recipient.
This information should have significance for Zoroastrians who have been told that a dead body has to be disposed of within 24 hours, though prayers have to be said for four days as the soul finally leaves the body on the morning of the fourth day after death. It took 3,000 years for scientists to provide the reason.
