Parsi vs parjat
Recently Dastur (Dr) Peshotan Mirza (pictured) was in the news when following major surgery at the Jaslok Hospital he was given
many blood transfusions. Originally the appeal was for Parsi donors only, but later on this was denied. At least one blood transfusion he received may have been from a non-Parsi; would that mean he now has parjat (outsider) blood in his system forever?
What if a Parsi receives an organ from a non-Parsi donor — say liver, kidney or heart? A Parsi girl was one of the earliest recipients of a heart transplant in Madras. Does this mean that she and the high priest have now to be termed parjats?
The narrow minded conservatives must debate over this and give a reply.
