A raise in wages

Every employee of the Breach Candy Hospital will receive a raise in wages ranging from Rs 6,883 to Rs 7,683 per month as the result of an amicable settlement arrived at between the Breach Candy Hospital Trust and the Mumbai Mazdoor Sabha (MMS). The three-year settlement, signed on January 22, 2016, is effective from April 1, 2015 under the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, mentions an email received from the MMS. Additionally, for the first time ever all workmen, technical and administrative staff of the Hospital will receive postretirement medical benefits, subject to a ceiling of Rs 10,000 per annum per employee, including spouse.

The MMS, under the stewardship of president Chandbibi Zaidi and general secretary Dhunji Naterwalla, is also the statutorily recognized union for both the Bombay Parsi Punchayet Funds and Properties as well as for the B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital in Bombay.
