Outstanding scientist
Shortlisted from a field of 2,000 contenders by the Madras based Venus International Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to recognizing innovators and achievers who have done path-breaking original research in the field of science and technology nationally and internationally, the Outstanding Scientist award was presented to Dr Anahita Bhesania Hodiwala at a function held at Le Royal Méredien hotel in Madras on December 19, 2015, mentions an email from Hodiwala’s father, Pervez Bhesania of Thana.

Having earned her MD in microbiology, the 1976 born Hodiwala is a doctor and professor attached to the MGM (Mahatma Gandhi Mission) Hospital in Panvel. Appointed professor at the young age of 35, she has worked as doctor, teacher, author and researcher of standing with 31 published papers. Her posters have won the first prize at state level conferences for three consecutive years, mentions the email. Her book on original research has been published by Lambert, an international publisher of renown and she has worked extensively in the area of bacteriology. She has been Internal Quality Assurance Cell Coordinator for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for MGM Medical College and Hospital as well as member of the board of studies and academic council of the MGM Institute of Health Sciences University, notes the citation.
Hodiwala’s husband Vistasp is an advertising professional with over two decades of experience. Two years ago he started his own advertising agency, Underdog. Hodiwala’s father Pervez is vice president of the Thana Parsee Zoroastrian Anjuman, has been trustee of the Thane Agiary Fund for 18 years and the Thana Zoroastrian Charity Fund for 36 years. Her mother Pervin retired as a dental surgeon after practicing for over 30 years, the email notes.
