Khambatta honored

Areez Khambatta, soft drinks tycoon and former president of the Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat (APP) received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Roda and Savak Mohudawala Charitable Trust (RSMCT) at a function held on January 17, 2016 at the Sir Navroji Vakil Hall in Ahmedabad in recognition of his long and devoted services to the community. Young Ervads Arzad Khambatta and Vazaan Dastur, were also felicitated on the occasion, as were 25 achievers in various fields, mentions an email received from Porus Karanjawalla, founder trustee of RSMCT.

Karanjawalla introduced Areez as "a person who never minces his words.” While serving as APP trustee for around 25 years with one term as president, he was instrumental in augmenting the revenue of the APP by obtaining a considerable hike in rental income from the premises used by a public sector bank. Also, many Parsi youths were inducted into the bank. The 60 shops and offices constructed by him at Jashodanagar today generate a monthly income of Rs 1.5 lakhs, the email notes.
Roshan Rao, Dilshad Sui and Perin Unwalla received awards for community welfare. In the young professional category the recipients were Jaish Daruwalla, Ariez Munshi, Ruzbeh and Shahvir Postwala and Jal Unwalla. Percy Avari and Marezban Lahewala were felicitated as young entrepreneurs. Farzin Contractor, Kaazvin Kapadia and Julie Pardiwala received awards for research, science and technology. Yazdan Bokdawalla and Ruzben Hodiwala were recognized for extracurricular activities. Shining in sports were Kaivan Dastoor, Vahishta Gandhi, Farnaz and Sheraz Vakil along with Ferzin Daboo, while awards for academics went to Mashiya Daruwala, Kaizad Dastoor, Meherzad Hansotia, Arex Jambusarwala and Kaizeen Sutaria.
A vote of thanks was given by RSMCT trustee Ardaviraf Mehta.
