Operation clean-up
BPP trustees, ZYNG and other volunteers at Bharucha Baug
When the new trustees interacted with core members of ZYNG it was decided that while there will always be scope and opportunity for fun and games, youth should focus more energy on community service. It is important to alter the mindset of the residents to stop littering and throwing garbage out of their windows rather than indulging in the blame game and lamenting "BPP kai karta nathi (the BPP is not doing anything)."
Trustees Viraf Mehta and Kersi Randeria along with members of the BPP staff and some youngsters from Bharucha Baug joined ZYNG members in going from door to door, requesting the residents to sign a pledge stating that they would not litter and would approach other residents not to do so either. Signed pledges will be displayed at the Bharucha Baug Club.
The services of several malis (gardeners) were used to cut the overgrown grass. The BPP expended Rs 80,000 on this exercise, but the money was well spent as the baug looks cleaner and the residents are pleased with the improvement. After the work was done, the volunteers bonded over a hearty chicken biryani lunch, the email concludes.
