A priest for Lahore

The 122-year-old Cooper Agiary in Lahore is looking for a mobed. Lahore has a tiny Parsi community of just 25, down from over 300 in its heyday. A comfortable two-bedroom, hall and kitchen accommodation for the mobed and his family is located on the premises. The post would be ideal for a young person with a growing family who would like a home of his own, or for someone from a small town. The priest and his family will be well looked after with loads of love and affection by the Parsi community. In addition, education of children and medical expenses will be taken care of.

Since there are so few Parsis here, this would probably be a part-time job and the community would encourage and help the priest look for a suitable assignment in Lahore.
At present some wonderful people are looking after the agiary, including two delightful ladies of 72 and 85! They are avid readers of Parsiana whenever they can get hold of a copy. There is a Parsi aramgah too in the older part of Lahore with a lot of history buried in it, including novelist Bapsi Sidhwa’s parents. Sidhwa has also mentioned the Cooper Agiary in her writings on Lahore.
Lahore was known as the Paris of the East and, judging by the hospitality and elegance of its people, continues to remain so. It is a beautiful, clean city, far cleaner than Bombay or Delhi, with wide roads, gardens, historical monuments, cultural events, friendly people and great food.
