The PM’s qualities

In the Penguin Dictionary of Hindu Names, "Narendra” is defined as "Lord of Men.” Now that Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has successfully established his lordship in Indian politics, we need to consider the qualities which have led to his rise not so much from rags to riches, but from the depths of poverty to the heights of power.
The PM’s success at the national level is attributable not only to the power of his intellect, charismatic qualities of leadership, and adroitness of political maneuvering, but also to certain intangible characteristics long thought as not usually related to public office such as integrity, non-partisanship, honesty, humanity and humor.
People close to the PM know that he has an extraordinary ability for making people like him; he can remember names, size up acquaintances and put others at ease. He also has a strong ideological distaste for influence and corruption and thinks of himself as beholden to no one, with his morals untarnished. They also know that the PM inspires others, partly through intuitive eloquence, partly through a certain domineering attitude. He tolerates no disloyalty or disingenuousness in his staff and surrounds himself with persons whom he perceives as trustworthy and dedicated.
He has an intuitive sense of Indian politics and an inborn ability to avoid exposing himself on controversial issues. He appears to enjoy power and knows that its use can serve to expand its scope for the benefit of his party and the nation. He has also a gratifying respect for, and appreciation of, the Parsi community.
