Free tree plantation
In a country like India, where urban areas are highly concretized and vegetation rapidly shrinking, the adverse effects of increased pollution and global warming are severely affecting our health and well-being. Hence, the Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CERE) is striving to plant trees in cities where increasing the green cover is vital.
CERE plants only well-rooted three to four year old tree saplings, procured from reputed nurseries, to ensure high viability rates. This is undertaken free of charge for landowners because the project is fully sponsored by environmentally-conscious clients and donors trying to achieve carbon neutrality. All produce from the trees including fruits, pruned wood, etc comes under the complete ownership and use of the landowner.
CERE has already planted over 200 trees in Bhiwandi free of charge for 40 small land holders. We will soon be undertaking the planting of 80 to 100 trees at Atma Darshan in Andheri in partnership with the Jesuit order and 12 to 18 trees near a residential building in Versova.
We have funding to plant an additional 3,000 trees in Bombay city and we are currently seeking to establish more partnerships with landowners having available space to grow indigenous trees on their land. The entire process will be undertaken on a turnkey hassle-free basis, free of cost for the landowner.
CERE has written to the Bombay Parsi Punchayet regarding the Doongerwadi land at Malabar Hill which is an ideal location for this project where hundreds of trees can be planted for the benefit of the Parsi community and the welfare of the city. We could also engage with Parsi baugs, residential colonies, agiary properties, etc where free tree saplings can be planted.
Landowners may contact CERE for undertaking plantation drives under the Urban Afforestation Project before the summer sets in. Email prabhir.correa@cere-india.org or visit the CERE website: www.cere-india.org

This is a God sent chance to keep all our Parsi properties clean, GREEN n serene, as I always say. We should definitely take advantage of this offer, without any delay. Our Baugs, Agiyari compounds along with the Doongerwadi will all become lush green. May Amardad Ameshaspund bless us, n these trees bloom n flourish. Amim.
