“Living the ...”
As I began reading Parsis: A People of the Book by S. M. Taher Rezwi, fortuitously gifted to me, I noted with interest the acknowledgment made by Farrokh Jal Vajifdar (editor of the recently revised edition) of "the encouragement of two USA based Parsi ladies, Freaney Romer and Nazneen Spliedt, both close friends.” (The book was reviewed under the title "Living the religion,” Books, Parsiana, October 21, 2014.)
Given the fact that these ladies have settled abroad (and are thus beyond the presumed benign influence of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet), and further that one — if not both — appears to be married to a non-Parsi, I feel compelled to observe and appreciate that real and meaningful dedication to Zarathushtra and his message (i.e. our religion) is neither confined to the tunnel vision of some local super-enthusiasts, nor necessarily lost upon those — including women — married to non-Parsis and living abroad.
