“What the community...”
On reading "What the community wants” (Editorial Viewpoint, Parsiana, August 21, 2014) I wish to ask whether we can seriously consider an alternate system of disposal of the dead where hyenas, foxes or wolves can devour the carcasses instead of vultures, as was the case in ancient Iran. As in a zoo, double door entrance can be arranged, perhaps at a much lower cost than setting up an aviary.
If valuable opinions can be taken from experts, acrimonious discussions and fights could cease. There would be no need for more discussions over bunglis, prayer halls or debarring priests. The system of dakhmenashini will remain intact.
Will the community give this suggestion some thought and consideration? ARMIN DUTIA MOTASHAW

The editors reply:
As it is there are enough caged and imprisoned animals. Surely we don’t want to add to the number of enslaved creatures?
