Do not hurt others
I am sorry to hear that a police complaint was filed by four trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) against the chairman for financial impropriety prior to an internal investigation and also to read that abusive words are rampant at board meetings of the BPP.
Hurting others verbally or with expressions is due to absence of restraint from acting on emotions like anger, frustration or not getting what we want.
Some of the benefits of not hurting others are that others will not want to hurt us in turn. Everyone wants to be respected. By not hurting others we show them respect and also create peace and harmony. Being sensitive to others makes us gentle and kind. Mahatma Gandhi said, "It is not that I do not get angry. I do not give vent to my anger. I only control my anger when it comes. It is a habit that everyone must cultivate and must succeed in forming by constant practice.”
One of my missions for 2014 is to have young people of Indian origin practice these values along with their parents, be they Zoroastrians or not.
