“The plucky priestess”

A navjote performed in North America by a mobedyar caused a controversy ("The plucky priestess,” Parsiana, July 21, 2013). So what? The Zoroastrian religion is not the monopoly of the Parsis, though they have now coined a new dhong dhang (make-believe) phrase, "Parsi Zoroastrian religion.” The Kurds claim they are the true followers of Zoroastrianism. Recently a navjote was performed in Europe. It is high time wisdom dawns on the fascists who are holding the religion to ransom in this country.
Every religion — Hindu, Christian, Muslim or Buddhist — converts people to its own faith, sometimes by force, as in Iran and Pakistan. Only Parsis are hell bent on not allowing the Zoroastrian religion to come to the fore. The reason is not far to seek. Religion is a tool to capture the vast properties, and also to have monopoly over the community.

With a shortage of behdins, mobeds and gheedhras (vultures) too, the writing is on the wall. All this talk about kayani tokhem (purity of race) is a myth and a figment of imagination. According to newspaper reports, the Bo tribe of the Andamans has become extinct with its last member dying recently. Last November the only surviving speaker of another tribal language, "Khora,” passed away. With this, the total number of Andamanese tribals who can speak their 65,000-year-old tongue is now down to a depressing five. Another newspaper reported that the Supreme Court wanted to know from the Andaman and Nicobar Island administration whether it intended to keep in isolation the extremely endangered Jarawa tribe members who number just over 300.
So if palav daar (rice and dal) Parsis are going to stick to their dhong dhang, without applying common sense and remain isolated on the flimsy pretext of purity and all that, they should start writing their wills and mention in them which community should get Cama Baug, Allbless Baug, Cusrow Baug, Rustom Baug, Jer Baug, Doongerwadi, the imported aviary, and so on.
The present leadership is not only destroying the community but the religion as well.
