“Partners, priests and…”

You present the bright side of the community adequately but one needs a magnifying glass to see the other side. In the report on the meeting of the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India titled "Partners, priests and philanthropists” (Parsiana, March 7, 2013) it is mentioned that three chasniwallas are living on the pavement. This cannot be justified under any circumstances, especially for the Parsi community.
There are many self-appointed guardians of the religion who will not allow any fire temple to be closed down. So it is their duty to immediately house these poor unfortunate people. If they want the fire temples to be kept open, they must look after the people who work there. I presume these workers are not unionized like the corpse bearers, otherwise the situation would be different.
Not so long ago a despicable Parsi had abandoned his wife and child, leaving them without resources. When the story came out a lady trustee of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet helped the poor woman. But why was the husband not arrested and locked up? Such cases must be exposed and given wide publicity.
