My dream wife
I thought, when I was twenty,/ To get married, I had time aplenty.
Now, at three score and ten,/ I often ask myself, "When?"
"Have I got enough experience of life/ To be able to cope with a loving wife?"
My parents tell me, "Don’t wait for ever,/ Dikra, it’s now or never!"
Just to please Mum and Dad,/ I put in Parsiana an ad.
"Happy-go-lucky, young-at-heart, Bawa/ Seeks a girl as sweet as mawa.
She must be loving and caring and accommodating,/ With seven persons our flat we’ll be sharing.
Oh my Darling, please don’t frown,/ Even though the building is about to fall down.
Fifty years ago, I asked the BPP for a flat;/ The reply I got, year after year, was, ‘Scat!’"
Soon I got plenty of replies,/ Some truthful but most filled with lies.
