Colorful compositions
Artist Aban Irani, whose solo show "Outpourings” was exhibited at Jehangir Art Gallery in Bombay from August 28 to September 3, 2012, has come a long way since her debut on the art scene over 40 years ago.

The 69-year-old’s current offerings are "indicative of the peace and strength she has achieved after a long period of searching, to realize the essential values of life... Now free of uncertainties (she) finds communion with the ultimate reality in a riot of resplendent fresh and playful motifs executed in vibrant hues,” notes art critic Sadhona Siddiqui.

Irani, a BA in history who also completed a five-year fine art training course at the Sir J. J. School of Art, has now chosen to avail of modern tools on the computer to give creative expression to the "felt vibrations” within which she translates into digital form. These are then printed on "archival canvas” where the "colors never fade,” she informed Parsiana. This new technique has given her "access to millions of colors that she needs, to reflect her moods and emotions,” explains Siddiqui. The resulting mystical visions in brilliant iridescent hues and fascinating forms are the theme of this "technically induced exuberant body of work which reflects the artist’s liberation from past constraints... She no longer has to painstakingly chase after elusive shades,” according to Siddiqui.
The recent exhibition showcased Irani’s abstract compositions along with some photographic works which she has morphed, as per her sensibilities. The works are mostly in vivid colors, but there are some monochromatic canvases as well.
Irani has mounted a number of solo exhibitions in India and abroad as well as taken part in several group shows.
