Journey through time
"A Journey Through Time... The Zoroastrians,” a Frohar Foundation and Frohar Films initiative, showcased the history, heritage, culture, legacy and religion of this small but vibrant community. The exhibition, held from April 5 to 8, 2012 at Bombay’s Allbless Baug, was inaugurated by Nadir Godrej, managing director, Godrej Industries Limited.
Designed, conceptualized and organized by Ervad Cyrus Dastoor, founder and director of Frohar Films and trustee of Frohar Foundation, this annual exhibition has grown out of the tele-serial Humata Hukhta Hvrashta, aired on Doordarshan 11 Girnar — (Doordarshan Ahmedabad) every Sunday at 12.30 p.m. With over 125 episodes, the tele-serial has made Zoroastrians and non-Zoroastrians alike understand many aspects of the religion, its history, culture, customs, rites and rituals, notes an e-mail received by Parsiana from Dastoor.

The exhibition complements various aspects of the tele-serial by displaying them in the form of three dimensional models, audio-visuals, texts, etc. It covers the history of the Zoroastrian kings of Iran, Cyrus the Great’s Charter of Human Rights, various Iranian dynasties, the story of Prophet Zarathushtra, the journey from Iran to India, the agreement with Jadi Rana of Sanjan, the Shahnameh of Firdausi Toosi, rites and rituals covering jashan, wedding, navjote, death and after death ceremonies, navar, maratab, yasna, vandidad, nirangdin rituals. Models of the insides of an agiary and the Tower of Silence (dakhma) were on display. There was an inter-religious dialog by speakers from various religions in India on April 7.
