Our elderly

Often, an old piece of furniture is one, in old age/ This is most dangerous for society, says a sage.
This piece, once ornamental, was the family’s pride/ Today it is in a godown, lonely, forlorn; a thing to deride.
Everyone else thinks of dumping them; décor they spoil/ Poor things, depressed, in a corner sit, worried they may soil.
There are elderly in every community, however we many have/ They must be respected; with them we must well behave.
Experience they have plenty; need they our love and care/ Ever ready they are to guide and their rich experience share.
Endeavor, their toothless smile, on their lips should stay/ Try we must, to give them our best, for never can we repay.
