“Centenary in Calcutta”

We thank you for the excellent coverage given to the inaugural function of The Late Ervad D. B. Mehta’s Zoroastrian Anjuman Atash Adaran’s centenary celebrations ("Centenary in Calcutta,” Parsiana, December 7, 2011). The entire article is factual but for one anomaly which has inadvertently crept in.
Whilst quoting from Vada Dastur Kaikhushro Navroz Dastoor Meherji-rana, you have written "referring to his father who had served as the first panthaky of the Atash Adaran the high priest wrote...” The high priest’s father was Dastur Navroji Dastoor Meherjirana who was not the first panthaky of the Atash Adaran but did serve the Adaran for a number of years from 1960.
Ervad Burjorji Jamshedji Dastoor Meherjirana was the first panthaky of the Atash Adaran from 1911 to 1947, which has been correctly mentioned by you earlier in the article. Obviously the misunderstanding has occurred due to the similarity of names, Meherjirana. This error has also been brought to our attention by the family whose sentiments have been hurt.
