Zoroastrians Abroad
Active in Australia
Nominated as president of the Australian Zoroastrian Association (AZA) of New South Wales for the fifth term is Fariborz Jamshidi Kalantary. The new committee that was elected in October 2011 includes vice president Kersi Parekh, treasurer Farrokh Dhanbhoora, secretary Peyman Gohari and members Rohinton Ghisth, Shahram Jamshidi and Arash Behmardi, notes a press release from the secretary who has sent us additional inputs, acceding to Parsiana’s request.

Relocating to Australia with his family after the revolution in Iran, Kalantary worked for an insurance company in their Information Technology (IT) department. Volunteering his services to the Zoroastrian community he has served on the committee for the last 14 years as president, vice president and committee member. Born and educated in Tehran, Kalantary had joined the Royal Iranian Air Force where he trained in the United States Air Force for two years as a senior computer analyst programmer. His greatest contribution to AZA, he feels, is uniting Zoroastrians from different countries.
Working as an IT professional within the state’s government school education system, Parekh migrated from Bombay to Sydney 20 years ago. Living with his wife and two daughters, he became a more active member of AZA after his parents and brothers relocated to Sydney.
A professionally qualified financial executive who has worked in the global banking sector in Dubai for several years, Dhanbhoora migrated with his family to Australia in 2010 and has since been an active member of AZA. He runs his own business in the property maintenance sector.
An information technology professional working in Sydney, Gohari recently moved to Australia and lives with his wife Shirin. Born in Iran, Gohari had earlier spent 22 years in France.
