NA demography

"The total births recorded for 2010 increased by 25 percent; the number of girls born increased by 38 percent compared to the boys who were up by 15 percent,” reported the Fall 2011 issue of FEZANA (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America) Journal, giving the comparative (2009-10) demographic profile of the North American community (see box) based on information received from member associations, newsletters, e-mails and other post. As compared to 51 births in 2009 there were 64 in 2010.
Marriages and deaths both declined by six percent; marriages from 33 to 31 and deaths from 53 to 50. Although marriages showed a negative growth, interfaith marriages increased by 44 percent as compared to intrafaith unions that had reduced by 53 percent. Among the deceased male deaths had increased by 13 percent while female deaths had declined by 32 percent.

"Overall the demographic trend for the North American Zarathushti community looks encouraging given that births and navjotes are on the increase,” sums up the write-up after reporting that navjotes had increased by 61 percent with the number of girls initiated in the religion rising by a "whopping 107 percent with a decent 30 percent increase” for boys.
