Lying-in proposal rejected
A proposal to redevelop the 120-year-old Parsi Lying-in Hospital into a super specialty orthopaedic hospital ("A lying-in lease,” Parsiana, October 7, 2011) has been "unanimously” rejected by the trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP). The proposal had been put forward by the trust managing the hospital but as the property vests with the BPP their consent was required. A letter from chief executive officer Mehli Colah addressed to the chairman of the Parsi Lying-in Hospital trust and former BPP chairman, Minoo Shroff noted the matter had been discussed but was not acceptable. An offer to meet the BPP trustees and explain the proposal was not availed of.
