Cama’s refusal

Candidates for the trusteeship seat presently occupied by dissenting Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trustee Noshir Dadrawala are proving difficult to find. Muncherji Cama who was considered a possible candidate has stated he is not a contender for the post. The chairman and managing director of the Gujarati, daily, The Bombay Samachar, who stood unsuccessfully in the 2008 BPP elections was considered a strong candidate. Now that he has stated he will not stand, the Alert Zoroastrians Association that was keen to field him will have to search for someone else. The Dinshaw Mehta-Khojeste Mistree-WAPIZ (World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis) combine are also on the lookout for a suitable candidate but as yet there are no takers.
Dadrawala has been at loggerheads with his six co-trustees over the past two years and is keen to step down and channel his energies to more constructive purposes. But until someone comes forward to fill the slot, he may have to continue on the board.
