Chenoy Agiary celebrates

Celebrations for the 106th salgirah of The Bai Maneckbai Nusserwanji Chenoy Agiary in Hyderabad were held over two days, September 19-20, 2010. On the eve of the salgirah a cultural program was presented by the Parsi Irani youth of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in the Agiary complex, the highlight of which was a short skit titled A Day at the Agiary which tickled the funny bone of the audience while also being educative, notes Dinshaw B. Parakh, secretary and treasurer of The Bai Maneckbai Nusserwanji Chenoy Fire Temple Endowment Trust Fund, in a write-up sent to Parsiana. The cultural program was followed by a festive feast.

On the day of the salgirah, Ardi-behesht mah, Ardibehesht roz, the morning’s traditional jashan led by the panthaky, Ervad Mehernosh Bharucha, was attended by a large number of Zoroastrians. An evening thanksgiving maachi was offered to the padshah saheb, after which it was time for fun and games, including a filmy tambola which was enjoyed by young and old alike. A celebratory cake bearing the impression of the Agiary on the icing was provided by Minoo Siganporia of Cake Bank. The cake was cut and all present partook of some mouth watering snacks.
Shazneen Wadia and Fashutana Bhagat worked tirelessly to make the two-day celebrations a success, Parakh acknowledges in his write-up.
