Varasiaji’s death
Certain defamatory statements are being made to deliberately malign the trustees of the M. J. Wadia Fire Temple Trust, Lalbaug and incite religious sentiments in the community by vexatious and false propaganda on the passing away of the sacred varasiaji housed at the Cama Baug Agiary.
The late varasiaji belonged to Vada Dastur (Dr) Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa’s clan/trust and was earlier housed at the Lalbaug Agiary at his request. As there was construction activity in the complex, the varasiaji was temporarily shifted to the Cama Baug Agiary with the cooperation of JamaspAsa.
It has been alleged that the trustees went back on their commitment to take the varasiaji back to the Lalbaug Agiary. This is entirely untrue. When the construction was completed in 2007, the trustees offered to shift the varasiaji back to Lalbaug. In response, Jamasp-Asa informed us in his letter dated March 6, 2007 that, "The sacred bull (varasiaji) is well looked after and maintained by the Panthaki Saheb and his staff at Cama Baug Agiary and hence regret to inform your goodselves that it will not be possible to accede to your kind offer.”
It can be seen from the above, the trustees of the Lalbaug Agiary are in no way involved with the passing away of the varasiaji at Cama Baug Agiary. The varasiaji belonged to JamaspAsa and not to the Lalbaug Agiary. Such malicious propaganda in the name of religion by distorting the facts is self-defeating. We pray that Ahura Mazda bless the misguided with vohu mano (good mind) so that they expend their energy in a positive manner for the welfare and wellbeing of our community and in doing so uphold the teachings of our beloved prophet.
