Strange and confusing
Is it not strange that the very people who long ago gave shelter and succor to a boatload of refugees fleeing religious persecution, in whose land the refugees prospered as no refugees had ever done before, are now being vehemently denounced as darvans (non-Zoroastrians)? Marriage with these shelter-givers is not accepted, children from such unions are hounded out of agiaries and dear friends of long standing cannot attend the last rites.
Is it not strange that the refugees were allowed by these darvans to build grand places of worship, huge sites for the disposal of the dead, reserved for the refugees only, municipal hospitals with wards reserved for the refugees because they paid for it? All these benefits, coupled with faith, trust and respect, albeit earned, were given by the darvans to the refugees. Yet the shelter-givers are darvans, parjat (other caste) and not offered chasni which is the prasad for a religious ceremony that the darvans offer to all. SOONU JAL
