Home for aged destitutes
I would like to draw the attention of readers to the facilities and benefits provided by the Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy Dharamshala at Nagpada which is a home for aged destitutes (above 60 years). Despite the excellent work done by it, this institution continues to remain unknown to the majority of Parsis. The Dharamshala was established 160 years ago by the great visionary Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy and provides boarding, lodging, medical expenses, psychiatric care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy entirely free of cost. The Dharam-shala is open to all communities. The trustees, including myself, are all professional people who give their time free for this noble cause.

The Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy Dharamshala at Nagpada
At present we have 70 residents, both male and female, comprising Hindus, Muslims and Christians. We have vacancies for 10 additional residents. We have no Parsis at all and I suspect that one of the reasons for this is that many in the community are not aware of its existence. Should any person be interested, he or she should contact the social worker at the Dharamshala (Nilima) on telephone number 022-23079838.
