Parsi Khabar’s milestone

In mid-February 2009 "Parsi Khabar crossed a small milestone. We had our 1,000th post up on the website,” notes a recent offering from the Wadias. Arzan Sam Wadia writes that the website, which is a labor of love, was launched on August 19, 2005 with a welcome note followed by a Saal Mubarak the following day on the occasion of Parsi New Year. Since then, this architect and urban designer, his architect wife Shirrin and sister Mehernaaz, all co-authors on the blog now based in New York but who describe themselves as "very much from Bombay,” have "brought readers over 1,000 posts covering matters, opinions and news about the Parsis: The Zoroastrians of India.”
"(We) all lead busy professional lives and we run Khabar as a service to the community,” writes Sam who notes that readership has increased year by year. In today’s connected digital world with the resultant information overload, the Wadias take pains to bring to readers an edited version of "what is most appropriate and contextual… Parsis are a fast dwindling microcosm of society. Unique in culture, social customs, outlook and spirit… We are at a crossroads at this moment of time. The need for change and the resistance to it are the biggest issues we face today. How this pans out in the years to come will be interesting and you can be sure that Parsi Khabar will be there to bring it to you without fail,” he promises.
