ZTFE’s dance extravaganza

A very appreciative audience at the beautiful Zartoshty Brothers Hall of the Zoroastrian Centre in London witnessed a bravura performance of Indian classical dance by the renowned artiste Kalaimamani Dr Sinduri. Drawing on Bharat Natyam and Kuchipudi traditions, the danseuse who has regaled distinguished audiences at New Delhi’s Rashtrapati Bhavan was sponsored by philanthropists Khorshed and Mahinder Sodhi for the benefit of the Centre, writes ZTFE (Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe) president Paurushasp Jila in an e-mail to Parsiana.

Dr Sinduri

Accompanied by her daughter Vinaini, a troupe of three musicians and a singer, Sinduri introduced and explained each item to the audience ahead of its performance. Special lighting had been installed on the stage to capture the intricate movements of eyes and face of the dancer, Jila informs us. A variety of performances were presented by Sinduri but what brought the house down was a dance specially adapted to the Zoroastrian anthem Chhaiyé Hamé Zarathoshti. "It was a cultural feast for the large audience and a delight for the connoisseur,” states Jila.
